Are you an island? We'll take a cup of kindness yet...

Dear readers,

tkwek is having a guilty fit this evening after dozing off (unintentionally) during assembly. But that's okay. The whole row was asleep. kind of. (DETECT SLIPPERY SLOPE FALLACY) The incriminating names - including mine! - shall not be posted here.

Before i forget,

If there is someone that you miss dearly, for any reason, post this exact sentence in your journal.

that was thanks to stef's blog. link's on the right!

anyway, tkwek has been coming under severe critiscms lately for not posting work with substantive literary content, and so he went scouting around for inspiration. A budding philosopher from his school gave him the first line of the famous poem: "No Man Is An Island", and a liverpool fan, also from his school, gave him the immortal quote: "You'll never walk alone".

Putting the two together, and adding the rest of the bits during MEP lesson (we were tasked to write ROMAN NUMERALS for the chords), he came up with this little rhyme. Enjoy!

REMEMBER TO READ THE BELOW POST TOO :)

Let's take a cup of kindness yet;
The Straight Times Editor

P.s. this poem, as well as the last essay, was dedicated to my many friends over the past years, and especially to that special group of very close friends who love me though i've wronged them. I'm still righting those wrongs -it's taking a long time...

And here’s where we find friends

No man is an island,
But sometimes I just feel,
We are all on barren isles -
With only the sun and seals.

We might have been a continent,
‘n Empire broad and strong!
But we have realized, along our paths,
That no-one really belongs.

Drifting, bonds we break and make -
Through Life and Love our islands meet.
We greet, we learn, we call, we shake,
And lasting friends we seek.

Our souls, we’ve found, cannot live alone,
Yet they’re some with whom we just don’t click,
But still we’ve to tread this fateful path,
For our fellow men’s hearts we can ne’er predict.

Now we’ve lived these thirteen years,
We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve fought, we’ve grown,
I just want you to know, my friend, that
You’ll never walk alone.
