Frontiers!
Dear readers,
tkwek is back from YO camp, and he must say it's been a real blast (: Especially with the 7 diamonds bid (and a kleptomaniac bystander coughKEVENcough), super imbalanced bridge games (where Selina and Leejing got super pro counsellors coughKEVENFANGYINGcough), the dance (and many, many psychomotor problems), the captains ball (and VERY tall 'cheaters'), the waterbomb fight (jinghui! grrr) and the food (not to mention the excursions across the road).
But oh well, as promised, tkwek shall continue posting about the Korea trip.
Enjoy (:

In accordance with the theme of the competition, it must be said that on this trip, from this point onwards, the entire team faced a number of FRONTIERS, and these shall be explained on this blog post.
The first is on the muggers' front. We arrived in the afternoon-evening of the 30th of May at the English Village, which is a village set up to immerse young residents in the culture of the west. Getting off the bus after a 45 minute bus ride - stretched into one and a half hours by a driver who went on strike - everyone just looked SO ALERT. we found a Patrick-shaped tuft of grass.
Anyway, we proceeded to our room, and were most pleasantly surprised that 1) the toilet door couldn't be locked, and 2) neither could the room door. In fact, the room door couldn't even close. Oh well. Here's a scene from muggers' night, the eve of the competition. Starring Mr. Lim, Josh and Zhi Yang. I must say, we all have fond (to some extent) memories of this night. But of course, there were perks from the 7-11 there to keep us awake. See right.
The next day before the compeition, everyone crowded around in the village centre. General morale level = low. After waiting for ages for the competition to begin, we breathed a short prayer and headed into the concentration camp (whoops i meant competition venue). The first round of questions was HARD, to say the least, but hey, aren't most frontiers hard? Either ways, it was tempered with an easy essay after that. Well-refelcted in Josh's expression.
Anyway, the debate went well, and the scholars' quiz was so-so, and we went back to sleep the day off. More accurately, talk rubbish till 2 am. On the right is CHAMPION NOL just after he said: "I'm so humble!"
The next pic was after the prize-giving ceremony. I don't really want to post the results on this blog but 1) you can ask me; 2) they were good. (: We took a group photo with our plaques and everything. After this, the majority of us skipped lunch at the English Village (with good reason, i can assure you) and headed back to METRO on the 2pm bus. A very enjoyable ride. Thanks to whoever played again for the bridge games :D The third photo shows a very pleased jeremy and a very pissed yifei. tsktsk.
Anyway, here's where the physical frontier took over. Lunchtime in the Seoul city centre, on a Sunday, is far from deserted. But even with the crowd and everything, street-stall hawkers still find time to gulp down a quick lunch. And so did we - sharing a long-everdue pizza at 3 30 pm.
Anyway after that are more city shots!
I shall have to stop posting here, look out for more! X)
