Midnight sun
Dear readers
tagboards' back! and so is tkwek's default mood :D
The Straight Times Editor
Picking up my violin to practice
after weeks of neglect is
like an overseas call to a
once-best friend now distanced.
Every stroke a serenade
of greeting – tentative scratches
on the doors of an old flame,
building into resonant life.
My queen remembers me
too, molding my
stiff fingers into familiar
gestures of forgotten time.
I wince at every impurity,
and try to make right
each tainted reminder of
perfect memories.
Until unfamiliarity disappears
into ease, and awkwardness
vanishes under
the carpet of grace.
It is an enjoyment
of old wine, the
sweetness of
many past summers.
But time flies in the midst
of loved ones, and soon
I close the case on
A tearless goodbye.
