Much ado to know myself

Dear readers,

It's been a long time since tkwek posted a poem, and he must say he's gotten a little rusty at writing them. but still, here's one to enjoy!

P.S. note from tkwek: i realized i write poems when i'm feeling energetic and i write essays when i'm tired. hmm.

Good Sentences, and Well Pronounced.

Teardrop

Every tear begins its test
Behind the eyelid’s dark recess –
Of hope, joy and life to bless,
And then of sorrow to attest.

Some are spilled on tactless yawns
That graze the waking of the dawn –
Some are poured on drunken lawns,
That evap’rate like the passing morn.

But the tear that finds the slower path
‘Cross hill and dale, through thick and rough –
Slips down the cheeks, dodges the cuff,
And through the beard, that bushy tuft –

‘Tis the tear that learns the most,
The onetime product of painful throes,
That scales the peaks and crowns the nose –
‘Tis he who of life can toast and boast!

At last this salty teardrop dries,
And while its salt of passionate ties
Weaves its weary path and dies,
Its soul, joyous now, to heaven flies.
